Manipulator (Plant Growth Regulator)
Manipulator is a soluble concentrate plant growth regulator (PGR) used in agriculture to manage crop height
and enhance yield. Its active ingredient is chlormequat chloride, a synthetic plant hormone regulator.
Chemical Formula: C5H13Cl2N (Chlormequat chloride)
Description:
- Systemic plant growth regulator with anti-gibberellin activity.
- Formulated with safeners and low-temperature activators for improved efficacy.
- Typical solution concentration: 620 g/L (54% w/w) chlormequat chloride.
Use / Application:
- Applied to cereal crops such as wheat, barley, and oats.
- Shortens and strengthens stalks to prevent lodging.
- Improves harvest efficiency, stem diameter, and nutrient allocation to grain.
- Enables higher seeding rates and fertility without excessive crop height.
Key Aspects of Use:
- Target Crops: Wheat, Barley, Oats
- Mode of Action: Inhibits gibberellin (hormone responsible for cell elongation)
- Application Timing: Growth stages GS12-14 to GS39 (early tillering to early flag leaf)
- Benefit: Strengthens stems, reduces lodging, and enhances yield potential
